Patrick’s Real Estate Advice

“I’m going to sell it myself and save on the commission. ”
That’s something I hear a lot. And it’s true—some homeowners do manage to do it.
But after more than 45 years in real estate, I’ve noticed one thing: the hardest part isn’t finding a buyer—it’s finding the right buyer and the right price.
Recently, I met a homeowner in the village of Arzier who had sold his property on his own. Proud of having saved on the commission, he realized a few months later that his neighbor had sold a similar house… for nearly CHF 100,000 more.
A real estate agency does more than just post a listing. It determines the fair market value of your property, screens potential buyers, negotiates on your behalf, and ensures the entire transaction goes smoothly.
My advice? Before selling on your own, at least seek the advice of a professional. It is sometimes more cost-effective to pay a commission than to sell your property for less than its value.
